A Midsummer Night's Dream

September 8 2015

The St Ed’s show went very well- we had a big audience and fantastic feedback. We were sad to leave such a great venue. We then had a couple of workshops and a performance at Sebastian River High School which was also a huge venue and seemed to go very well. In our spare time we went swimming in the sea, had a party at one of host family’s house (where we enjoyed a game of corn whole and lots of delicious homemade food), and chilled out in host families’ pools.

We were also invited to a high school American football game where we particularly enjoyed watching the cheerleaders and the incredible marching band. A particularly nice moment was when we were announced on the loud speaker and given pom poms by the cheerleading team- we briefly felt like celebrities.

We were very sad to leave Florida- it was the perfect place to start the tour and all of our hosts could not have been more welcoming. The next day was a long drive, with lunch in Georgia, to our hotel in Columbia, South Carolina. Yesterday was our day off which we used for a visit to nearby Chapin for a Labor Day Parade (which was quite an experience and involved Alex and Toby entering a cupcake eating completion). In the afternoon we swam in a lake for ages and made friends with some locals. In the evening we walked into Columbia for dinner and this morning we made our way to the venue at Columbia College. It is a smaller venue than the previous two (although still bigger than the ADC) and has quite retro equipment but is a lovely space with great acoustics and a friendly tech manager. We are looking forward to our performance tonight.
